The Third Ladybug
Noel Turns 13 Today!
Noel is Sister's dog, and she is turning 13 years old today. As we wish her a happy birthday, I would like to share with you the story of Noel and her importance to our family and our business!
“Dogs are not our whole life, but they make our lives whole.” Roger Caras
Noel was originally purchased by Sister, but it didn't take long for her to realize that Noel's daily care would require a lot more time and effort than she could commit to at that time in her life. At that point, Sister decided to gift Noel to our mother. Our mother, whom we affectionately called "Bo," owned her own antique shop, that she operated out of her home, so she had the means to care for her. Bo instantly fell in love with Noel, and I truly believe that Noel brought tremendous joy to her for many lovely years.
Bo thought that Noel was perfect. If we are being honest here, Bo's dog parenting skills were somewhat lacking. Noel was allowed to do pretty much as she pleased and was really quite spoiled. Since Bo and Noel were fairly inseparable, Noel literally traveled the countryside with Bo. As a matter of fact, she has made trips to New Mexico, Florida, Colorado, Arkansas, and Oklahoma... Now that's a well traveled dog!
Noel has been there for so many of our family events and special occasions over the years. She has attended countless baseball games, birthday parties, parades, and estate sales. Bo was even known to attempt to smuggle her into stores and other "off limits" locations. Basically, if it was possible for her to attend, she was there!
When we lost sweet Bo almost four years ago, we knew that Noel would go back to live with Sister. Noel has now become the center of Sister's world, and she is the very best dog mother imaginable! In recent months, Noel has developed a few health issues, and Sister has taken it all in stride. She has provided a wonderful home for Noel, and Noel is very much loved. I know that sweet Bo would be so proud!

The Third Ladybug
This brings me to the reason why we call Noel "the third ladybug." A couple of years before Bo passed away, she randomly started adding a ladybug emoji to all of her text messages to us. After her passing, Sister and I began experiencing frequent visits from ladybugs, that we both felt were a sign that Bo was still watching over us. Thus, the name of our business...Two Ladybugs Vintage! We call Noel "the third ladybug" because Bo frequently referred to her as our "sister!"
Lastly, many of you were probably unaware that Noel is actually on the payroll (paid in dog food) here at Two Ladybugs Vintage. Noel helps Sister daily, as she packages sold items, takes photos, and lists new items daily in our Etsy shop. Check out the photos below to see Noel at work!
Noel has been a prominent and much loved member of our extended family for thirteen beautiful years. Happy birthday Noel!
