She Sheds: A Girl's Best Friend

Updated: Jun 25, 2019

A "she shed" is a getaway/hideaway for females. I guess you could describe it as being similar to a "man cave," but for girls! It is a place where you can relax and do whatever strikes your fancy...read, paint, create, write, reflect, nap...you name it! The best thing about it is that it is all yours. It reflects your personality and interests.

If you google "she sheds" you can find endless ideas and possibilities. Some possible locations for your own personal shed could include:

  • Old sheds

  • Campers

  • Tree houses

  • Barns

  • Sheds from a kit sold at Home Depot, Lowes, etc

  • Rooms in your home

  • The sky is the limit!

Pinterest Ideas:

I love Pinterest, and it is my go-to source for inspiration and ideas for almost anything. Decorating Your Shed:

My own personal style tends toward a more vintage look. If you're like me, then you can find many decorative options at your local area flea markets, estate sales, garage sales, thrift stores, etc. We offer lots of great vintage decor items at our Etsy shop. I also purchase items online through Ebay, Etsy, Mercari, etc. Even if the vintage look is not your thing, great inexpensive decorative items can be found at these same places.

My Shed:

Last Mother's Day weekend, I got the surprise of a lifetime! My wonderful, saint of a husband and my youngest son built me my own shed! My husband purchased a kit from Lowes, and it was relatively simple to build. They were able to complete it in about three days. It is approximately 8 x 12 feet, and it is perfect for me. I painted the inside white, and I still need to paint the outside. Since I live in Texas, and the temperatures get super hot in the summer, I invested in a portable air conditioner. I also purchased a cute, little electric heater for the winter months. I primarily use my she shed to read, blog, rest, and relax. I love it so very much, and I think that everybody can benefit from having their own, private haven as a means to escape the hectic hustle and bustle of life. I have included photos of my shed below, and I hope they will inspire you to consider one for yourself!
