Bungalow Bliss: My Sister's Vintage Inspired Home
A Bungalow Beauty
I have long dreamed of owning an old, historic home. Sadly, that has not been in the cards for me. My obsession with old homes causes me to spend time on Pinterest searching for them. In addition, it is my motivation for constantly watching pretty much any show on HGTV that involves the renovation of old homes.
Don't get me wrong. I love my ranch style home that is located out in the country and is surrounded by cornfields. After all, it where I raised both of my boys, and is the vessel of endless beautiful memories. I wouldn't trade it for the world, but a girl can dream...
My sister, on the other hand, is the owner of a darling, historic bungalow style home. It is just so cute! Sister's home was built in 1922. It has been lovingly cared for by Sister and my brother-in-law for nineteen years, and is a picture perfect example of just the kind of house that I personally LOVE!
Sister's wonderful home is located in the historic district of our hometown of Belton, Texas. It is also located just around the block from our mother's gorgeous old historic home. It is surrounded by many other lovely old homes, as well.
Belton is the home of one of the largest and most impressive Independence Day parades in the country. According to the Belton Chamber of Commerce, in 2008, USA Today named Belton’s 4th of July Parade as one of the nation’s “Top Ten Places to Fly Your Flag on the 4th.” For this reason, Belton is an especially patriotic city. This is evident in the abundant number of homes that feature the United States flag proudly flying, and is just one of many things that make my hometown so endearing.
Sister's house is no exception! She always has a flag flying in the summertime. Her large and welcoming front porch always features lovely flowers, usually geraniums, as well as, beautiful ferns hanging in baskets. I love it!
Vintage Treasures Everywhere
As much as I admire the exterior of Sister's home, it is her lovely, creative, and oftentimes very whimsical use of vintage decor that I simply adore! In this case, I will let the photos speak for themselves!
As you can see in the photos above, Sister is an avid collector of all kinds of vintage treasures! She especially loves old kitchen finds, vintage crewel wall art, and adorable vintage figurines. She has an amazing collection of green depression glass, as well. I love to see her unique collections!
Coming Soon... The "She Room"
As many of you are aware, "she sheds" are currently very popular. You can read about my own "she shed" here! Well, my super creative sister, had an even better idea! When my niece moved out of her childhood bedroom, Sister decided to turn it into.... you guessed it... a SHE ROOM!
I will be writing a blog post on that when she is completely ready for the big reveal in the very near future... stay tuned!
As you can see, Sister has a wonderful, cozy, quaint old historic home that she has made uniquely hers with the addition of her own personal touches. It is fabulous and ever changing. I hope you enjoyed the tour!
